Lodge a police report on an alleged animal abuse case

Photos of a cat with a fish hook pierced into its eye was circulated on social media yesterday (11 Feb).

The original social media post is believed to be shared by Facebook user “Hathan Kuart”.

Within two weeks, there are already two cases of alleged animal abuses being reported. Last week was a business owner who sprayed paint on pigeons to fetch a higher price, and yesterday was the cat pierced by fish hook.

Animal abuse is against the Animal Welfare Act 2015. The perpetrator can be sentenced to 3 years in prison and fined up to RM10,000.

We from Sustainable Malaysia Association has lodged a police report this morning (12 Feb), and hope the authorities will investigate the photo about the cat.

Animal abuses are becoming rampant even though they are against the Animal Welfare Act. Our non-governmental organisation takes these matters seriously and we hope that the public will be aware of and stop such cruelty.
